✨ Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year from space2grow!

space2Hohoho!

It was a very wet and wild day for the last volunteer session but that did not put off the Christmas celebration! Wreaths and tabletop candle decorations were made and decorated with ivy, berries, rose-hips, teasels, dried hydrangea, holly and pine cones; each looking so unique. It was a chance to get creative and have some fun.

The braziers were lit and large pans of chai tea and spiced apple juice kept everyone warm. There was also a lunch of hot chilli with bread rolls accompanied by very delicious homemade sausage rolls.

The volunteers all received a delightful homemade Christmas card made by the teen groups. Thank you to Susie & Julie for all the preparation involved in the last session and thank you to all of our volunteers for the amazing work done in the garden over the year.

creative crafts

During their last few sessions the students from Weydon and Farnham Heath End have been doing some Christmas crafts - making cards for the garden and Men in Sheds volunteers as well as the team who run space2play and host Farnham Forest School sessions. The cards were so fun - made by decorating leaves collected from the acre.

The groups also had a chance to paint decorations carved by the Men in Sheds team as well as making wreaths and Christmas stars from willow. A great end to their term in the garden.

winter play

The winter space2play sessions ran right through until the end of term. The children came despite the rain and thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. The construction of the new vegetable beds created new play areas and the children made Christmas ornaments from wooden roundels. The sessions were enjoyed by the mums as much as the children. If you are interested in joining next term please email play@space2grow.space

Elves in Sheds

The Men in Sheds team have been such a support on site in recent weeks - real Christmas elves! As well as creating craft activities for the groups they have also built a new large raised bed for the gardeners and worked on community jobs for the Council.

a very important visitor

As well as the elves working away in the Men in Sheds shed, we also had a very important visitor come in to visit the children from St Andrews School. They have been using the acre weekly during the Autumn term as an outdoor classroom as well as the site to host an afterschool club. They were delighted when Father Christmas managed to fit in a visit to space2grow in his busy schedule!

THANK YOU!

Seasons greetings to all our community friends!

We would like to thank all our funders and supporters throughout the year, without whom all these activities wouldn't be possible. From organisations such as Farnham Lions, The Farnham Round Table the Farnham & Weyside RotaryClub and the Hedgehogs. All have continued to support us this year. A special thank you for the Squires Badshot Lea team and to Farnham Town Council for their support and the Community Foundation for Surrey and the Waverley Thriving Communities fund. We appreciate it all so much, as do all those who come and enjoy the space.

Also thanks to Tilford Village Fete, Frensham Heights Parent Group and the Waitrose Community Fund. The local support receive means the world to us and helps us so much in continuing to do what we do and support all the groups who come to us.

Finally a thank you to the National Lottery Community fund, we are all looking forward to 2026!

reflections from the acre...

This months reflection comes from a parent who recently completed the Teens course with us at space2grow. We have come to the end of two Talking Teens courses that have been running this Autumn and we are so proud to be able to offer these courses in Farnham. A huge thank you to Farnham Town Council for supporting the Talking Teens courses. We also completed our 8 week Nurturing Programme supported by the National Lottery Community Fund.

We know that the benefit of these courses can be felt within families for years, improving relationships and helping to create a less stressful home life. Claire had attended the Nurturing course with us a few years ago and returned to attend the Talking Teens and shared this with us;

'' Thank you so much for providing such an amazing course. You provide a safe, welcoming environment where people can be honest and share their thoughts / feelings without judgement, however small or large. It really has been a valuable few weeks. I only wish it could have been longer'

We are already planning the courses in the Spring, if you are interested or know families that will benefit please email info@theparentingspace.space

We wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.  Please come and see what we're up to in 2026!
