men in sheds shine

There were smiles all round as members of the Farnham Men in Sheds team presented the fabulous glitterball trophy they have made for The Ridgeway School's annual Ridgeway's Got Talent competition.

And a round of applause for the 100 and more children who took part in the competition, hoping to get their hands on the shiny new prize.  They were delighted to have a TV style trophy that was just like the one from Strictly!

Headteacher Darryl Morgan said "I'd just like to say a huge thank you, they [Men in Sheds] were welcoming, enthusiastic and very generous with their time."
Farnham Men in Sheds is a collaboration between space2grow and Farnham Maltings, for local men to get together on the acre and work on 'making and repairing' community projects. The glitterball trophy was made using upcycled materials and donations.
If you have a project you would like to ask Men in Sheds for help with, please visit their webpage to complete and submit the proposal form.

hedgehogs donate quiz proceeds

A big thank you to the The Hedgehogs who have donated the proceeds of their annual Quiz night to space2grow. Representatives dropped by the garden earlier this week to present the £1,000 gift. After a tour of the acre, which included the new greenhouse they helped to fund earlier this year, they met some of our gardening volunteers and stayed for a cup of tea and cake.

afternoons on the acre

Afternoons on the acre will be starting again soon, when local people can book out the wild garden to enjoy a picnic or simply spend time relaxing in nature with family or friends.
Children can explore the beautiful wildflower meadow, spot dragonflies and other wildlife near the pond, and see seasonal vegetables and fruit grown by the regular gardening group.
The garden is open from 3.30pm – 6.00pm every weekday throughout the summer.  Visitors should book in advance by emailing info@space2grow.space.

in our garden

Our garden volunteers have had a busy couple of weeks, working in the veg patches and strimming around the beds.

The team have also been tidying up around our entrance gate, clearing the path to the talking shed and weeding the borders.

reflections from the acre ...

The reflections this week come from Andy, a member of Farnham Men in Sheds, a collaboration between space2grow and Farnham Maltings. The group meets twice a week on the acre, to work on community projects, making, mending and woodworking in the outdoors.  Andy is pictured here with other members of the group, at a project completed for Farnham Museum

I enjoy being part of the team at Farnham Men in Sheds, it enables me to contribute to the community by delivering a range of projects. Members have a wide range of practical skills and knowledge which we pool together to deliver solutions. The group also provides the opportunity to discuss current affairs and put the world to right while we are working.
Our workshop is located at space2grow which is a great place to work among a number of other community groups
."

If you would like to share what the acre means to you, please email info@space2grow.space - we love hearing everyone's reflections.
